The Favbet Premijer liga (English: Favbet Premier League, lit. 'Favbet Premier League'), also known as simply Premijer liga, is the first tier level men's professional basketball league in Croatia. It began in 1991, following the breakup of SFR Yugoslavia and therefore the Yugoslav League, and is organized by the Croatian Basketball Federation.
Favbet Premijer liga, which is played under FIBA rules, currently consists of 12 teams. The most successful club is KK Cibona with 19 championship titles.
History
Prior to 1991, clubs from Croatia played in the Yugoslav First Federal League. From the inaugural season in 1946, three Croatian clubs won 15 national championships in total; Zadar (six titles), Split (six titles), and Cibona (three titles).
Kroatië - A1 Liga
De Kroatische A1 Liga is de hoogste professionele basketbalcompetitie in Kroatië. De competitie werd opgericht in 1991 en bestaat momenteel uit 12 teams.
De reguliere competitie bestaat uit 22 ronden, waarbij elk team twee keer tegen elkaar speelt, thuis en uit. De beste acht teams aan het einde van de reguliere competitie plaatsen zich voor de play-offs, die een knock-outtoernooi zijn.
De A1 Liga wordt gedomineerd door Cibona Zagreb, dat 21 kampioenschappen heeft gewonnen. Andere succesvolle teams zijn Zadar, Split en Cedevita Olimpija.
De A1 Liga is een van de sterkste basketbalcompetities in Zuidoost-Europa en heeft verschillende spelers voortgebracht die op het hoogste niveau hebben gespeeld, waaronder Dražen Petrović, Toni Kukoč en Goran Dragić.
