Wikipedia - Asian Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup
The Asian Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup, also known as the AVC Challenge Cup for Women, is an international volleyball competition in Asia and Oceania contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the sport's continent governing body.
From 2023 edition, the winner will qualify for the FIVB Challenger Cup.
This event should not be confused with the other, more prestigious continental competition for Asian national women's volleyball teams, the Asian Volleyball Championship and Asian Volleyball Cup.
The two Asian Volleyball Challenge Cup tournaments has been won by two different national teams. Both Hong Kong and Vietnam have won one time.
History
Originally, the tournament was scheduled to be awarded every two years beginning 2018. The first two editions of the tournament were due to take place in Hong Kong, China, but due to unforeseen reasons, the first edition in 2018 did not held, while the second edition two years later was cancelled due to grave concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was first take place in 2022. The champions was Hong Kong, which won their first title at the 2022 edition in a round-robin format. In 2023 edition, Vietnam crowned as the champions, won also their first title in the tournament and qualified for the 2023 FIVB Challenger Cup.
From the 2023 edition, the AVC Challenge Cup has reformed from being held biennially to annually as it serve as a qualifier for the FIVB Challenger Cup.
De AVC Challenge Cup is een volleybaltoernooi voor vrouwen dat jaarlijks wordt georganiseerd door de Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC). Het toernooi is opgezet om nationale teams uit Azië en Oceanië de kans te geven om te concurreren op een internationaal niveau.
Het toernooi wordt sinds 2008 gehouden en is sindsdien uitgegroeid tot een van de meest prestigieuze volleybaltoernooien in de regio. De winnaars van het toernooi kwalificeren zich voor de FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup.
Het toernooi van 2023 wordt gehouden in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, van 21 tot en met 29 mei. Er zullen 10 teams deelnemen aan het toernooi, waaronder:

Het toernooi wordt gespeeld in een round-robin-formaat, gevolgd door knock-outwedstrijden. De top 4 teams plaatsen zich voor de halve finales.
De AVC Challenge Cup is een belangrijke gebeurtenis in de volleybalkalender en biedt de fans de kans om enkele van de beste vrouwelijke volleybalspelers ter wereld in actie te zien.
