The Zimbabwean Domestic Twenty20, formerly known as the Stanbic Bank Twenty20 and the Metropolitan Bank Twenty20, is the domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in Zimbabwe. It was first played in 2006–07 and is organised by Zimbabwe Cricket.
The profile of the tournament grew after the reorganisation of cricket in Zimbabwe ahead of the 2009–10 season.
History
A domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament was first contested in the 2006–07 Metropolitan Bank Twenty20 competition. The tournament has previously been known as the Metropolitan Bank Twenty20, the Stanbic Bank Twenty20, and the Domestic Twenty20 Competition.
Het Zimbabwe Domestic T20-crickettoernooi is een twintig-over cricketcompetitie in Zimbabwe die in 2010 werd opgericht. Het toernooi wordt georganiseerd door de Zimbabwe Cricket Union en bestaat momenteel uit zes teams:
* Bulawayo Metropolitan Tuskers
* Harare Metropolitan Eagles
* Mashonaland Eagles
* Matabeleland Tuskers
* Mid West Rhinos
* Mountaineers
Het toernooi wordt gespeeld volgens een Twenty20-formaat, waarbij elk team één innings van 20 overs speelt. De wedstrijden worden gespeeld in verschillende locaties in Zimbabwe, waaronder Harare Sports Club, Queens Sports Club en Bulawayo Athletic Club.
Het Zimbabwe Domestic T20-toernooi wordt beschouwd als een belangrijke ontwikkelingscompetitie voor jonge Zimbabwaanse cricketers, en verschillende spelers die voor het Zimbabwaanse nationale cricketteam hebben gespeeld, hebben in dit toernooi gespeeld.
