Wikipedia - Divizia A (men's handball)

The Divizia A is the second level of the Romanian men's professional handball system. The league comprises twenty one teams.

History

This sport was first played in Romania in 1920. After a visit in Germany, a few physical education teachers introduced this sport in their classes. The Divizia A was founded in 1933 (in 11 players) and in 1958 in the current format with 7 players. The current champions are Știința Municipal Bacău (Seria A) and CSM Oradea (Seria B).

**Roemenië - Divizia A**

Het Roemeense handbaltoernooi "Divizia A" is de hoogste dameshandbalcompetitie in Roemenië. De competitie werd in 1956 voor het eerst gehouden en wordt georganiseerd door de Roemeense Handbalfederatie.

**Teams**

De Divizia A bestaat uit veertien teams die een dubbele ronde robin spelen, waarbij elk team twee keer tegen elkaar speelt. De top acht teams plaatsen zich voor de play-offs om de titel, terwijl de onderste zes teams strijden tegen degradatie.

**Kampioenen**

CSM București is het meest succesvolle team in de geschiedenis van de Divizia A, met 13 titels. Andere succesvolle teams zijn Rapid București (10 titels), CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea (9 titels) en HCM Baia Mare (5 titels).

**Internationale competities**

De winnaar van de Divizia A plaatst zich voor de EHF Champions League, terwijl de tweede en derde plaatsen zich kwalificeren voor de EHF European League.
