Wikipedia - Benilde Blazers
The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Blazers are the NCAA senior varsity team of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde.
The Blazers were formerly a member of the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) before being admitted to the NCAA in 1998. They then went on to win their first NCAA seniors basketball title in 2000, the fastest for an expansion squad.
The other senior varsity teams may also be referred to as the Blazers. The juniors team are the Benilde–LSGH Junior Blazers (officially the Benilde–LSGH Greenies) of La Salle Green Hills, while the women's teams (volleyball and taekwondo) are the Saint Benilde Lady Blazers.
Almost all sports programs of the Blazers excel in their events, leading to the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde winning its first ever General Championship in NCAA Season 81, and again in NCAA Season 83, NCAA Season 84, NCAA Season 89, and NCAA Season 90.
De Blazers wonnen hun eerste NCAA-kampioenschap in 2022 door de San Beda Red Lions te verslaan in de finale. Het was het eerste kampioenschap van de school in 26 jaar en hun tweede kampioenschap in de algehele NCAA-geschiedenis.
De Blazers staan bekend om hun snelle stijl van spelen en hun fysieke verdediging. Ze hebben een aantal getalenteerde spelers in hun selectie, waaronder Miggy Cortez, Migs Oczon en Will Gozum.
De Blazers zijn een van de topteams in de NCAA en worden beschouwd als een kanshebber voor het kampioenschap in 2023. Ze zullen hun titel verdedigen tegen een aantal sterke uitdagers, waaronder de San Beda Red Lions, de Letran Knights en de Mapua Cardinals.
