Wikipedia - Mazarrón FC
Mazarrón Fútbol Club is a Spanish football club based in the municipality of Mazarrón in the autonomous community of Region de Murcia. Founded in 2010 after its predecessor Mazarrón CF was dissolved, they currently play in Murcian Regional Preference – Subgroup 1, the fourth tier of Spanish football. They play their home games at Estadio Municipal Pedro Méndez Méndez, which has a capacity of around 3,500 people
History
Mazarrón FC was founded on 2 August 2010 as a replacement to dissolved Mazarrón CF, with former player José Miguel Rodríguez becoming the team's president. Initially taking the place of CFS El Progreso, the club spent their first two seasons in the Regional Preferente, the first tier of regional football (fifth tier), before suffering relegation to Primera Regional.
After two seasons in the sixth tier, Mazarrón returned to Preferente in 2016, promoting to Tercera División in 2018. In 2020, they reached the promotion play-offs after finishing fifth (the fourth, Real Murcia Imperial, was unavailable for promotion); it was subsequently knocked out by CF Lorca Deportiva, however.
Mazarron heeft een rijke historie in het lagere Spaanse voetbal. De club promoveerde in 2006 voor het eerst naar de Segunda Division B, maar degradeerde na één seizoen weer. In 2012 wist Mazarron opnieuw te promoveren naar de Segunda Division B, maar ook ditmaal volgde een snelle degradatie.
In het seizoen 2018/19 werd Mazarron kampioen van de Tercera Division en promoveerde het naar de Segunda Division B. In de Segunda Division B presteerde Mazarron echter teleurstellend en degradeerde het na één seizoen weer.
Mazarron staat bekend om haar sterke verdediging en fysieke spel. De club heeft een trouwe aanhang die de thuiswedstrijden massaal bezoekt.
