Chipstead Football Club is a football club based in Chipstead, near Banstead, in Surrey, England. Affiliated to the Surrey County Football Association, they are currently members of the Isthmian League South Central Division and play at High Road.
History
The club was established in 1906 after a team was formed by locals to play workers building Netherne Hospital. In 1962 the club joined the Surrey Intermediate League, where they played until joining the new Surrey Premier League in 1982. They were subsequently runners-up on three occasions and won the League Cup three times.
In 1986 Chipstead moved up to the Combined Counties League. They won the league's Challenge Trophy in the first season, and went on to win the title in 1989–90. They were runners-up the following season won the Challenge Trophy again in 1990–91. The 1992–93 season saw them finish as runners-up and win the Premier Division Challenge Cup, with the Challenge Cup won again in 1994–95. They were league runners-up again the following season. After winning the league for a second time in 2006–07 the club were promoted to Division One South of the Isthmian League.
De club werd opgericht als Chipstead Cricket Club, maar werd in 1890 omgedoopt tot Chipstead Football Club. In 1901 werd de club lid van de Surrey County Football Association en in 1907 werd ze toegelaten tot de Isthmian League. Chipstead speelde in de Isthmian League tot 1939, toen de competitie werd opgeschort vanwege de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
Na de oorlog hervatte Chipstead het spelen in de Isthmian League en speelde in de jaren vijftig en zestig in de hogere regionen van de competitie. In 1963 bereikte de club de finale van de FA Amateur Cup, maar verloor met 3-1 van Wimbledon. In 1977 won Chipstead de Isthmian League Cup en in 1981 won de club de Surrey Senior Cup.
In de jaren negentig en 2000 speelde Chipstead in de middenmoot van de Isthmian League. In 2010 degradeerde de club naar de Isthmian League Division One South, maar promoveerde in 2013 weer naar de Premier Division. In het seizoen 2017/18 eindigde Chipstead als derde in de Premier Division en promoveerde via de play-offs naar de National League South.
Chipstead speelt in een geel en blauw tenue en wordt bijgenaamd "The Chips". De club heeft een rivaliteit met Epsom & Ewell, een andere club uit Surrey.
