Gymkhana FC

Gymkhana Football Club is a semi-professional Singaporean football club founded in 2002 and is affiliated to the Football Association of Singapore (FAS). They won the National Football League (NFL) Division Two, a third tier of the Singapore football league system, in 2017.

In 2017, Gymkhana FC won the NFL Division Two title and will be promoted to NFL Division One for the next season.

However, Gymkhana FC made the new for the wrong reasons. On 21 October 2018, a referee was allegedly hit in the face by their player Jufri Hassan after being sent off in the match against Katong FC. The player received a life ban from the FAS.

Gymkhana FC was later expelled from the NFL in December 2018 as they were unable to field 11 players at the point of kick-off on three separate occasions in the course of the competition.

Gymkhana FC returns to football in 2019 when they participated in Singapore Island Wide League (IWL).

Gymkhana FC is een Singaporese voetbalclub en een van de oudste clubs van het land. Opgericht in 1892, speelde het vroeger in de Singapore Amateur Football League en verving later in de jaren 1930 de Singapore Chinese Football Association als een van de beste Chinese voetbalclubs in Singapore.

Gymkhana FC bereikte het hoogtepunt van zijn succes in de jaren 1950 en 1960 toen het aanvoerder was van het Singapore Chinese voetbal. De club won de Singapore Amateur Football League titel in 1953, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1962 en 1965. Het won ook de Singapore Amateur Cup in 1959, 1961, 1962 en 1965.

In 1975 was Gymkhana FC een van de oprichtende leden van de National Football League en speelde het in de hoogste afdeling van het Singaporese voetbal tot zijn degradatie in 1980. De club keerde pas in 1998 terug naar de S-League, maar degradeerde in 2004 opnieuw.

Sinds 2005 speelt Gymkhana FC in de National Football League Division 1, de tweede divisie van het Singaporese voetbal. De club heeft verschillende malen geprobeerd terug te keren naar de S-League, maar is daar tot nu toe niet in geslaagd.

In 2012 won Gymkhana FC de National Football League Division 1 titel en promoveerde het naar de S-League voor het seizoen 2013. De club degradeerde echter aan het einde van het seizoen 2013 weer naar de National Football League Division 1.

Gymkhana FC speelt zijn thuiswedstrijden in het Jalan Besar Stadium. De traditionele kleuren van de club zijn rood en wit.
