Vanderbilt - Dames

The Vanderbilt Commodores women's basketball team represents Vanderbilt University in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Commodores have never won the regular season SEC championship, although they have won six SEC tournament titles (1993, 1995, 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2009); the SEC has awarded its official championship based solely on regular-season record since the 1985–86 season. The team is coached by Shea Ralph, entering her third season.

Het basketbalteam voor vrouwen van Vanderbilt University staat bekend als de Vanderbilt Commodores. Het team vertegenwoordigt de Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee en komt uit in de Southeastern Conference (SEC) van de National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). De Commodores spelen hun thuiswedstrijden in de Memorial Gymnasium op de campus van Vanderbilt.

Het team werd opgericht in 1973 en is sindsdien een topteam in de SEC. De Commodores hebben 16 NCAA-toernooien gespeeld, waaronder één Final Four-optreden in 2002. Ze hebben ook één SEC-toernooikampioenschap gewonnen in 2004.

Verschillende opmerkelijke spelers hebben voor de Vanderbilt Commodores gespeeld, waaronder Chantelle Anderson, Carla Thomas, Stephanie White en Shanice Cason. Het team wordt momenteel gecoacht door Stephanie White, die in 2016 werd aangesteld.

De Vanderbilt Commodores zijn een gerespecteerd programma in het vrouwenbasketbal. Ze staan bekend om hun atletische spel en hun vermogen om belangrijke wedstrijden te winnen. De Commodores behoren altijd tot de kanshebbers in de SEC en hopen in de nabije toekomst weer een NCAA-toernooi te bereiken.
